Work Schedule: Ally designates roles as (1) fully on-site, (2) hybrid, or (3) fully remote. Hybrid roles are generally expected to be in the office a certain number of days per week as indicated by your manager. We’re looking for a UX Accessibility specialist to be a boots-on-the-ground advocate for equitable user experiences. They’ll be the first line of defense when it comes to championing digital accessibility and serve as a voice for those who depend on Ally to practice inclusive design. This team member will be a part of the design operations team, ensuring our reusable component library is accessible and part of creating excellent user experiences for all, regardless of their ability or device.

The Work Itself
Collaborate with Digital Product, UX and IT squads to implement accessible WCAG 2.2 AA industry leading enhancements
Lead and maintain accessibility training and awareness sessions, acting as an advocate for accessibility at Ally to drive accessible and inclusive UX design.
Review UX designs (wireframes, visual designs, interaction patterns) with the objective of identifying accessibility issues prior to development, often needing to guide leadership on how to think through accessibility problem solving
Guide teammates on how to annotate UX designs for accessibility prior to reaching the development team
Maintain and improve our accessibility annotation library in Figma, supporting design and development teams using it
Act as an accessibility subject matter expert for various areas throughout the enterprise by analyzing audits, delivering reports for supported lines of business, and beyond
Study emerging technology and experience patterns to constantly help guide our approach to accessibility
Assist in planning and execution of activities related to Global Accessibility Awareness Day and other related events by helping put together sessions and workshops to increase knowledge of web accessibility and users’ needs
Contribute to our UX design system through component design and pattern documentation
Provide squad-level training and technical support in accordance with industry standard W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Help to maximize efficiency by surfacing repeatable processes and frameworks for accessibility and design ops
Act as our greatest advocate for accessibility, helping others within and beyond UX to do their part in making Ally a great place to bank for all
Proactively research, report on, and recommend ways we can incorporate equity and inclusion into our UX practice and design thinking
The Skills You Bring
Ability to communicate with UX leadership, designers, tech developers, QA testers to successfully deliver projects and techniques.
Strong UX design and concepting skills
Proficiency in Figma and a willingness to try new tools
Understanding of mobile and web accessibility with knowledge of JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Talkback and aXe, with a passion to learn more
Strong attention to detail and comprehension of accessibility best practices.
Demonstrated understanding of user experience, web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 standards and practices, and WAI-ARIA for both desktop and mobile technology.
Some knowledge of recognizing accessibility issues in HTML
Commitment to continuous learning and a willingness to ask questions
A problem solver and proactive thinker; you’re an effective self starter and time manager, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and a desire to develop processes with minimal supervision
Passion to advocate for accessibility and inclusive design
1-2+ years of experience in designing accessible solutions
1+ years of experience in user experience
CPACC or WAS as well as past experience in user research with people with disabilities are desired but not required

Base Pay Range: $65000 - $115000 USD
An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.
Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.

Salary Range: $65000 - $115000
