Overview:

We are hiring a UX Accessibility Analyst to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 (AA) guidelines and Section 508 accessibility standards! In this role, you will conduct accessibility audits, usability testing, and heuristic evaluations. Your strategic guidance will be pivotal in enhancing the accessibility and usability of our applications and websites. This position resides in the User Experience Design Systems group of the Application Development division of the Information Technology Services Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Perform audits to assess websites, applications, and documents, ensuring they comply with WCAG 2.1 (AA) guidelines and Section 508 standards.
Conduct heuristic evaluations based on usability principles and guidelines.
Present findings, providing actionable recommendations for improvements.
Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility standards and best practices, and proactively evangelize them among fellow UX practitioners and cross-functional partners to integrate accessible design principles throughout the development lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications:

A BS human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, or a related field of study and two (2) or more years of aligned experience is required for consideration.
Masters' degree holders in the same fields of study with one (1) or more years of aligned experience are also encouraged to apply.
Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.1 (AA) guidelines, Section 508 and ADA.
Familiarity with assistive technologies and accessibility-related software including JAWS®, NVDA, and Dragon® NaturallySpeaking.
Demonstrated expertise in conducting accessibility and usability audits, with the ability to translate findings into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Proficiency in Figma.
