Our team is part of the Retail Banking Services (RBS) Strategy Centre of Excellence (CoE) and sits within the award-winning Strategic Design Chapter. This chapter includes the Accessibility Practice, the Human Centred Design Practice, and the Experience Research Practice. Together, we collaborate to drive digital innovation and create user-centric solutions that make a real difference in people's lives.

About the role

As an Accessibility Manager, you will report to the Accessibility Chapter Lead and join a dedicated team of accessibility specialists.

Your role will be pivotal in enhancing the accessibility of our digital platforms, including the CommBank App, NetBank, CommBiz and other platforms. You'll work closely with UX and UI designers, product owners, engineers, and QA engineers across the retail and business banking digital portfolio to ensure our web and app interfaces are seamless and accessible.

This position offers unique challenges and a diverse range of projects, providing you with exposure to various teams and initiatives across the retail bank. If you live the values and demonstrate the people and digital capabilities we can offer great opportunities for progression.

What will your day look like?

Work with digital squads to review designs, define accessibility build requirements, perform conformance testing and provide accessibility sign off

Provide support for a variety of digital experiences including websites, native mobile apps, and payment hardware

Develop resources to support and uplift the digital accessibility capability of our people

Troubleshoot accessibility-related customer complaints and work with digital teams to apply fixes

Contribute to the delivery of strategic digital accessibility initiatives in RBS and Business Banking

Contribute to the delivery of strategic organisation-wide digital accessibility initiatives

Share and standardise accessibility knowledge and techniques with the Accessibility Team

Present about digital accessibility to a range of internal audiences across different forums

Respond to ad hoc digital accessibility queries

What will you bring?

For the Accessibility Manager position you will bring proven experience in digital accessibility working directly with design, technical and business roles

For the Senior Accessibility Manager position you will bring years of experience in digital accessibility working directly with design, technical and business roles

Extensive experience using assistive technologies and adaptive strategies across PC, Mac, iPhone and Android devices

Deep knowledge of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) v2.2 and WAI-ARIA markup

Experience using accessibility testing tools

The knack for explaining digital accessibility to any audience in plain language

The ability to diagnose code-level website and mobile app accessibility issues and give detailed recommendations

A strong understanding of the different accessibility features and limitations across web and native mobile platforms

Confidence and ability to work independently and autonomously

Proactive approach and a clear, adaptable communication style

Experience working in large and complex organisations (preferred but not required)
