Senior Software Engineer, Frontend - Accessibility

The Accessibility team empowers Squarespace to build inclusive products, usable by everyone, driving sustainable change through standards, tools, and collaboration with product teams. We are seeking a Software Engineer to build accessible, inclusive experiences for all users. You'll focus on integrating accessibility features into our platforms and ensuring services meet accessibility standards. This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the Engineering Team Manager.
You'll Get To…

Conduct and support accessibility audits: Participate in A11Y audits across products and designs, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
Build accessible platform solutions: Design platform-level features that support accessibility across all digital products.
Promote accessibility: Build libraries and frameworks to help product teams implement accessibility best practices with ease and consistency.
Integrate accessibility into the CI/CD pipeline: Implement automated accessibility testing in continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
Advise on platform accessibility: Guide platform and engineering teams on integrating accessibility into their development.

Who We're Looking for

Experience: 5-7 years in software development, with 3+ years focused on accessible solutions at the platform or framework level.
Educate others: Led onboarding to enhance team-wide understanding of web accessibility and best practices.
Communication: Experience sharing updates and resolutions with diverse stakeholders.
Platform architecture: Expertise in designing scalable, accessible platforms.
Technical proficiency: Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508, EN 301 549) and modern languages (JavaScript, Python, Java) and frameworks (React, Angular, Vue).
Tools & Assistive Tech: Experience with assistive technologies and accessibility tools (Axe, Lighthouse).
Collaboration: Worked with engineers, designers, product managers, and QA.
CI/CD & Automation: Integrated accessibility testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Cash Compensation Range: $128,500 – $231,500 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
