Job Description: Fractional Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Equivalent
Location: Remote - Commitment: Full time.

Equivalent is a pioneering startup specializing in accessible and responsive graphic technology. Our design software creates Smart graphics, revolutionizing how images adapt to OS and browser settings to improve accessibility and energy efficiency. As we enter our next phase of growth, we seek an experienced COO to help scale operations and drive strategic execution.

We’re looking for a results-driven COO to oversee daily operations, implement scalable systems, and ensure the company’s strategic vision translates into execution. The ideal candidate has a strong background in operational leadership, SaaS growth, and accessibility technology and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.

Operational Leadership

• Optimize and implement processes to support company growth and efficiency.
• Oversee business operations, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
• Build and lead a high-performance operations team.

Strategic Execution

• Translate the company’s vision into operational and financial roadmaps.
• Collaborate with the CEO to develop and execute growth strategies.
• Identify opportunities for process automation and operational improvements.

Financial & Business Growth

• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning along with our CFO.
• Support fundraising efforts and investor relations.
• Oversee revenue streams, pricing models, and financial sustainability.

Product & Market Expansion

• Oversee product development workflows to ensure timely releases.
• Help position Equivalent’s Smart SVG™ API technology in the market.
• Build partnerships with key industry players and accessibility advocates.

Stakeholder & Team Management

• Collaborate with leadership to ensure cross-functional alignment.
• Establish clear performance metrics and accountability across teams.
• Help represent Equivalent at industry events, conferences, and media engagements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a COO, Head of Operations, or similar leadership role. (MBA preferred)
• Strong operational and financial management skills.
• Experience scaling startups, implementing systems, and optimizing workflows.
• Knowledge of APIs, accessibility, WCAG compliance, SVGs, or design software. bonus: Figma.
• Passion for accessibility, sustainability, and inclusive design.

Responsibilities will include:

• Develop and optimize a sales process including systems, software, and personnel
• Help develop relationships with partners and board members
• Oversee Development Team
• Determine direction and overall growth strategy of organization
• Financial projections and key performance indicators
• Entrepreneurial mentality to tackle a variety of duties, challenges, and opportunities

Position is remote, but preferred location would be in the United States. Headquarters are located in EST timezone.

Compensation

Equity-based compensation, transitioning to competitive salary and equity post-funding.
