The Role
As a Principal Interaction Designer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the vision and evolving AspenTech Design System. You will collaborate with design, development, product, and brand stakeholders to evolve the Design System visual language, components, patterns, documentation, and delivery. You will set the bar for design quality across the organization, and you will act as an Accessibility evangelist. Additionally, you will mentor and guide junior designers, ensuring design best practices and a high standard of quality across projects. You’ll join a team of design-thinking UX professionals revolutionizing industrial engineering software.
Your Impact
Designs beautiful, high-quality components and patterns in a systematic, detail-oriented way
Evolve visual design language to create a modern, distinct user experience that aligns with AspenTech brand identity
Act as a thought leader for Accessibility and evangelize for its importance within the organization
Work hand in hand with development to ensure pixel-perfect implementation and smooth adoption in our products
Engage with senior leadership and functional leaders to craft and communicate a clear vision and roadmap for the Design System
Align expectations, goals, and guidelines among cross-functional teams
Own and maintain the Design System documentation website
Evangelize Aspen UX within the org and outwards to our industry and the world
Mentor and invest in other team members
What You'll Need
Degree in human-centered design, visual design, computer science, research, psychology, or related
8+ years of proven experience in web or product design
Exceptional portfolio in visual interface design, showcasing expertise in scaling visual and motion design concepts across different applications
Exceptional visual design skill focusing on clean, modern, highly interactive interfaces
Expert knowledge in Accessibility and WCAG guidelines
Self-driven nature with demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate well within a team
A systems-thinker, able to extrapolate and extend shared patterns/behaviors
Professional experience with using design tools such as Figma
Deep understanding of web technology
Excellent communication skills, making the complex clear and concise in writing and speaking
