Job Description:
At McDonald's, Digital Accessibility is a part of the Experience Design team, which is a key part of the Customer Experience team (MCX). We aim to create user-centered experiences that deliver a cohesive and enjoyable experience for customers and restaurant team members around the world.

This is an individual contributor role where a successful candidate focuses on embedding accessibility into complex design and business problems, cross-channel and across customer journeys.

A successful candidate:

Can identify barriers in the digital space from their deep knowledge of and strong skills with assistive technologies, human abilities, and accessibility principles;
Crafts and effectively communicate feedback from lenses that can be both detail-oriented and attuned to consistency across channel;
Capable of developing deep relationships to serve trusted advisor, product teams and designers, while supporting critical initiatives within the Agile process
This involves evaluating current practices and offering actionable guidance to respond to changes related to compliance and inclusivity to teams overseeing the web, design system, kiosk, and mobile global products. This role will support the Accessibility Manager for Global Products.

Core Responsibilities

Collaborate and Advise: Serve as a collaborative partner and expert advisor to Web and Design System teams on design principles, standards, and accessibility guardrails, ensuring a cohesive digital experience. Occasionally, they will partner with Kiosk and Mobile App teams.

Documentation and Reporting: Updating and maintaining accessibility presentations and self-service documentation to reflect current standards and practices for Product teams. Craft accessibility requirements in the Design System in partnership with design and tech.

Continuous Learning and Technology Interaction: Actively pursue ongoing education in emerging accessibility technologies and best practices. Stay informed about the latest advancements in platforms and accessibility tools. Requires a proactive approach to learning and the ability to apply new knowledge to enhance accessibility across the previously mentioned channels.

Qualifications:
Six (6) years digital accessibility experience in the public or private sector required.
Highlight knowledge of digital accessibility standards and guidelines, across various countries, and the ability to apply them across web, app, and kiosks.
Experience designing inclusive flows that consider user interactions from a variety of human ability lenses.
Understand front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, NextJS).
Understand server side and client-side rendering
Experienced working with Design Systems.
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to manage a diverse workload of projects with strong problem-solving skills.
Proven ability and willingness to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively across different teams and disciplines.
Preferred Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field (HCI, UX Design, Product Design) or equivalent experience.
Expertise across all facets of human-centered design and user experience, spanning UX strategy, experience/interaction design, user research, prototyping, and visual design.
Experienced with accessibility in application frameworks/languages like C#, .NET, Angular, NextJS, Swift
Experienced incorporating accessibility guidance within Single Page Applications (SPAs)
Experienced in marketing technology and authoring tools like Adobe Experience manager.
Experience using design collaboration tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch
Experience in community building or educational initiatives related to design
Portfolio displaying previous work in accessibility (recommended, but not required).
Repetitive Tasks

This is a mostly sedentary role operating in an office or home-office environment, constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, online collaboration tools, etc.
Occasionally move, position, and transport equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
Constantly comparing, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, instructing, and usage of analytical skills.
Constant communication with internal and external stakeholders, team members and management.
