Senior Web Developer

ASSYST is is seeking an experienced Senior Web Developer to play a key role in creating a seamless and engaging user experience for our client's applications and websites at Austin, TX.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading UX/UI design initiatives, ensuring accessibility compliance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance education technology integration.

Job location: Austin, TX. The working position is Hybrid - On Site and Telework.
Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/C2C or 1099)

Responsibilities:

Oversee UX/UI designs to ensure design decisions align with user experience best practices and agency-wide design standards.
Translate research findings into user stories, requirements, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
Conduct user testing and outreach to validate design solutions and ensure they meet end-user needs.
Collaborate closely with product teams, senior leadership, and stakeholders to drive design alignment and maintain consistency across digital platforms.
Lead large-scale UX/UI initiatives, providing guidance on usability, accessibility, and modern web development techniques.
Develop and maintain wireframes, prototypes, and design assets using Figma or similar design software.
Ensure compliance with federal accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1) in web designs and applications.
Utilize Atlassian Jira to track and manage design-related tasks and collaborate on development workflows.
Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in UX/UI design, front-end development, and digital accessibility.


Required Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in software product development, digital design, UX/UI, or a related field.
Strong expertise in designing mockups and wireframes that follow UX best practices.
A strong portfolio showcasing user research, visual design, and usability studies.
8+ years of experience conducting user and usability research to improve product design.
5+ years of demonstrated strong writing and organizational skills.
5+ years of experience with effective communication and facilitation in design discussions.
4+ years of direct experience leading large-scale UX/UI efforts.
4+ years of documented experience developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using Figma or similar design tools.
3+ years of experience ensuring designs comply with federal accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1, Section 508).


Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of experience working with Atlassian Jira for issue tracking and project management.
2+ years of experience working with or for any state/local education agency.
