Accessibility Specialist/QA Tester

Responsibilities
Conduct thorough accessibility audits and evaluations of digital products to identify potential accessibility barriers
Review content for compliance with accessibility guidelines such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
Identify issues related to color contrast, alternative text for images, keyboard navigation, and other accessibility-related elements
Create detailed reports outlining accessibility issues, recommendations, and potential solutions
Documenting findings in a clear and organized manner for development and design teams to understand and address
Work closely with designers, developers, content creators, and other team members to ensure accessibility requirements are understood and implemented
Utilizing specialized accessibility testing tools and software to identify and assess accessibility issues
Incorporate user feedback and insights into the accessibility improvement process
Conduct general quality assurance testing to identify and report functional and design issues in digital products
Identify creative solutions to address complex accessibility challenges while maintaining the integrity of the user experience
Tracking and managing accessibility-related issues, ensuring that they are properly documented, addressed, and resolved
Qualifications
Must have at least three (3) years of Quality Assurance experience
Must have experience with testing of eLearning courses developed in various authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, Lectora, D2L, Evolve, Adapt etc.
Must have experience with making/testing accessible documents in Word, Excel, PDFs, PPTs, etc.
Must be proficient in Accessibility (a11y) testing, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) towards Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA)
Must have experience in using tools (NVDA/JAWS/Narrator/Axe/WAVE), Color Contrast Analyzer (CCA), Mobile accessibility testing on Android and iOS (Voice Over/Talkback), and keyboard
Must have strong communication skills in English
Must be a citizen of Canada, living within Canada and be legible for a Government of Canada security clearance
Assets

Experience with Web Application testing
Previous Government or Ministry experience highly valued
Have any IAAP certification
