Role: Accessibility (Ax) Consultant
The Accessibility Consultant (AC) plays a critical role in evaluating and producing detailed accessibility reports using client-approved assistive tools. This includes researching, verifying, and validating digital content against established accessibility standards and providing actionable recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver accessibility reports aligned with project plans, ensuring timely and high-quality completion of tasks.
Provide support to development teams by resolving queries related to accessibility issues and addressing ad hoc requests from other teams or leadership.
Identify critical accessibility issues efficiently, propose effective resolutions, and track issues to closure.
Produce well-organized, informative, and analytical reports that clearly communicate findings and recommendations.
Conduct accessibility evaluations for digital products, including mobile devices, native apps, and non-HTML content, to ensure compliance with WCAG standards.
Guide design and development teams to incorporate accessibility best practices through feedback, prototypes, and sample artifacts.
Audit wireframes, visual designs, and prototypes to ensure accessibility compliance and prepare detailed audit reports.
Conduct walkthroughs of findings and provide in-depth recommendations to project teams.
Implement accessibility test cases to verify compliance across different browsers and operating systems, ensuring adherence to WCAG AA standards.
Requirements
Strong experience of professional experience in digital accessibility.
Expertise:
Strong understanding of accessibility principles and WCAG guidelines.
Hands-on experience with assistive technologies (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack) and tools like CCA.
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA to offer technical solutions and assist remediation teams.
Practical experience evaluating accessibility on mobile devices and providing optimized solutions.
Familiarity with accessibility in non-HTML content and native applications.
Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in business writing, particularly in creating well-structured reports.
