The client you'll be working with has undergone a major transformation over the last five years! They shifted from a typical training company to a tech-focused competitor with top-notch content. In 2018, they switched to subscription-based digital learning using the All-Access Pass platform. In 2021, they acquired a key player with clients like Slack, Airbnb, Pinterest, and Intuit. Now, they're positioned to lead in edtech. Their Platforms team is looking for great talent with a growth mindset to join and help grow their product.

Challenge
As a Software Engineer specializing in accessibility, you will play a crucial role in building products that help organizations train their employees and address their most pressing people-related challenges at scale. You will collaborate with product, design, data, and content teams to develop a modern learning platform, with a focus on performance, scalability, and accessibility.

What you'll do
- You will ship regularly and iteratively, writing testable, readable, and maintainable code.
- Engineers participate early in the product development process. You will review quantitative and qualitative research about our clients and learners and weigh in on the product strategy and roadmap.
- Advocate for and lead initiatives to ensure our software is accessible to the widest possible audience, in accordance with WCAG guidelines.
- You will work with the product, design, and support teams to ensure users get the most value from the products you've built.
- Provide guidance and training to team members on accessibility standards and practices.
- Focus primarily on frontend technologies, including React and JavaScript, while being open to full-stack work as needed.
- Architect systems to handle significant user scale, emphasizing performance, security, and privacy.
- Continually improve and share knowledge with the team through code reviews, presentations, and articles.

In order to succeed in this position, you will need:
Mandatory skills
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong focus on frontend development.
- Proficiency in React, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with a solid understanding of modern frontend architectures and state management.
- In-depth knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices, including WCAG guidelines.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools and techniques, such as screen readers, color contrast analyzers, and keyboard navigation testing.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing accessible design and development practices, ensuring products are usable by people with diverse abilities.
- Proven track record of working with accessibility vendors and integrating accessibility features into existing systems.

Nice-to-have
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Being a full stack developer will be very helpful.

Non-technical skills
- Excellent written communication skills, this is a team that works via written words, so not it’s just an ability to write, but a desire to drive change via writing.
