Senior Accessibility Specialist

Role: Senior A11y Specialist (SME)
Location: New York, NY
Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite and 2 days remote/WFH)
Role Type: Right to Hire/Contract to Perm

Technical Skills Required:
Proven track record of directly advising clients about inclusive design and digital accessibility standards and best practices
Expert knowledge of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, The Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508, evolving accessibility standards and VPAT
Core understanding of web development technologies and how they impact the user experience
Experience developing user interfaces, components library and PDF documents.
Create accessibility baseline for a companywide components library. Resource to other development teams to implement components such as carousels, dialogs, navigations, and form elements to have accessibility built into the backend.
Previous experience working on CMS (Content management system) is highly desired but not mandatory.
Skilled with HTML, CSS, and WAI-ARIA (JavaScript a plus)
Adept at conducting manual accessibility testing of websites, mobile apps and digital products using assistive technologies such as screen readers (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) and magnification software
Experience with automated accessibility testing tools and how to interpret/prioritize results
Proven ability to develop and offer technical solutions, training and guidance to web developers, designers, and software engineers
Knowledge of standards that apply to accessible multimedia
Ability to create accessible electronic documents (MS Office, GSuite, PDF)
Prior experience with project management platforms (such as Asana and Basecamp), collaboration platforms (Slack) and bug-tracking systems (Jira)

Huge Plus:
IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Certification
