As a Technical Writer for Meta’s Central Accessibility team, you will be responsible for the quality, accuracy, and discoverability of content that documents accessibility best practices and tooling. You will gather information from accessibility subject matter experts and translate it into clear, concise, well-structured documentation and training materials. This may mean documenting something yourself, editing contributed content from someone else, or at other times, fixing and reorganizing existing documentation. In addition, you may also have opportunities project manage for various documentation requests.
Documentation Engineer / Technical Writer Responsibilities
Design, write, and edit technical and process documentation related to accessibility best practices across mobile and desktop for designers and software engineers.
Create and maintain documentation for internal tools used within Meta.
Design, develop, and edit training materials (e.g., online learning modules) about accessibility best practices and tools.
Group and organize content to drive discoverability of materials and clarity of information.
Use standards and style guides to ensure content meets quality expectations.
Work closely with engineering and design subject matter experts to ensure the clarity and accuracy of your content.
Use assistive technologies (e.g., a screen reader) to verify the accessibility solutions in your content across multiple platforms including Android, iOS and the web.
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS degree in computer science, English, journalism, technical authoring or equivalent experience.
8+ years experience in instructional design, authoring, or technical documentation for an audience of designers or developers.
Experience with authoring tools and technologies, including content management systems, XML, HTML and Markdown.
Experience managing multiple deadlines and aligning on priorities with stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Familiarity with common accessibility solutions across mobile and the web.
Familiarity with AP Style.
