Position profile: Project Coordinator
CELA is a national not for profit organization that offers accessible reading services to people with print disabilities in Canada through member public libraries. CELA produces and distributes accessible books in both digital and physical formats, including braille, audiobooks and accessible ebooks. CELA’s collection currently provides access to over to 1,000,000 titles.

CELA seeks a Project Coordinator for a part-time (20 hours per week) term contract (October 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025). Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role will coordinate work on the Accessibility standards in commercial audiobooks project. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
Contribute to overall project plans and monitor progress to key milestones;
Contribute to implementation of testing plan for accessible commercial audiobooks;
Cooordinate communications with stakeholders related to the project;
Lead testing process and provide direction and support to CELA staff contributing to the project;
Create accessible online data gathering and survey tools;
Conduct focus groups;
Compile and analyse data from participants in testing process;
Write research reports and recommendations accessibility standards in commercial audiobooks;
Work collaboratively with staff, contractors, and external stakeholders ensuring that work is coordinated effectively and information is shared;
Identify and manage risks and dependencies, provide recommendations to address problems and reach expected results;
Other duties as required by project needs.
Competencies and Qualifications
University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Experience in book industry, libraries or publishing is desirable;
Lived experience with a print disability as defined by the Canadian Copyright Act is a definite asset;
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; ability to read, write, and speak French required;
Detail-oriented and self-directed;
Ability to work collaboratively and positively with individuals and groups in a distributed work environment and as part of a diverse team;
Strong technology skills and ability to use standard office software (e.g. Excel, Word) essential;
Knowledge of assistive technology and digital accessibility highly desirable;
Commitment to improving the accessibility of public library collections and services across Canada.
Work Environment
This is a virtual office opportunity, and the successful candidate will supply their own home office, computer, and reliable internet access.
This position is a fixed-term service contract (October 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025). Position is for 20 hours per week.
Salary: $35 per hour.
