Our Disability Resources team is seeking an Accessibility Specialist to join the team. The Accessibility Specialist's role encompasses various crucial tasks seamlessly intertwined to support our strategic aim of fostering an environment that champions physical health, mental well-being, and overall wellness, serving as the bedrock for lifelong success. In addition to developing accommodation plans and reviewing documentation, they offer direct counseling and specialize in a particular area based on their expertise and the evolving needs of our university and its diverse student body.
Furthermore, the Accessibility Specialist provides comprehensive support across all facets of the Office of Disability Resources. This may include, but is not limited to, educating staff, students, and families about available services, and assisting with exam proctoring, scheduling, and other exam administration logistics. The Accessibility Specialist will occasionally be required to adjust their schedule to work evenings or weekends, such as during final exams or first-year orientation weekend.
Collaboration and teamwork are essential components of this position. The Accessibility Specialist works closely with the Disability Resources Director, Assistant Director, other Accessibility Specialists, Program Administrator, and Testing Center Proctors as well as teams of students, their faculty, advisors, and others.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field required.
At least 3-5 years of demonstrated work experience.
Strong knowledge of student development and disability matters
Experience counseling and coordinating academic or workplace accommodations for individuals with a wide variety of disabilities and needs.
Highly organized and detail-oriented approach to work, with knowledge of changing legal issues as they relate to students with disabilities.
Experience maintaining a caseload; including keeping accurate and detailed case notes, frequent communication, as well as sound critical thinking and clinical judgment.
Experience or demonstrated aptitude in the area of accessibility, interpreting and applying the ADA and other applicable laws and/or guidelines.
Robust experience in working with individuals from underserved populations and marginalized groups.
Ability to analyze and interpret medical records such as neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations, audiological reports, and mental health records.
Ability to work both independently and on a team.
Ability to partner effectively with faculty, staff, and students to coordinate supports across multiple campus resources.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
