We are now looking for Senior Accessibility Specialist






Your job in a nutshell:
You will be responsible for ensuring that the organization's products and services are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This role requires a deep understanding of accessibility standards and best practices, as well as the ability to implement strategies that promote inclusive design and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.



What will you be doing:

Accessibility Audits: Conduct comprehensive accessibility evaluations of digital properties to identify barriers for people with disabilities.
Compliance Monitoring: Ensure products and services comply with international standards like the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), as well as relevant laws and regulations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Strategy and Policy Development: Develop and implement accessibility strategies, policies, and action plans across the organization.
Training and Education: Provide training and resources to designers, developers, and content creators to raise awareness and build skills in accessibility best practices.
Consultation: Serve as an in-house expert and consultant on accessibility matters for various teams and projects.
Advocacy and Awareness: Promote a culture of inclusivity and advocate for the importance of accessibility within the organization.
Tool Selection: Recommend and help implement tools and technologies that support the creation of accessible content and features.
Vendor Management: Work with external vendors and partners to ensure their products and services meet accessibility standards.
Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to accessibility processes, guidelines, and best practices.
Reporting: Monitor and report on the organization's accessibility status to stakeholders, including progress towards goals and areas needing attention.
User Research: Engage with users with disabilities to understand their needs and incorporate feedback into the design process.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and legal teams to integrate accessibility into product lifecycles.
Remediation Planning: Develop remediation plans for resolving accessibility issues and work with teams to prioritize and address these in a timely manner.


Requirements:

Experience: Several years of experience in accessibility analysis, design, and development.
Expertise in Standards: In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1, ADA, Section 508, and EN 301 549.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with assistive technologies, accessibility testing tools, and methods.
Programming Knowledge: Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA as they relate to accessibility.
Communication: Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on providing practical solutions.
Certifications: Professional certifications like IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) can be beneficial.
Educational Background: A degree in a related field such as Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a disability studies-related field.
German and English Language - proficient
