The Accessibility Lead serves as Kaplan Test Prep’s lead
accessibility engineer and evangelist, working with engineering, product and executive teams across the organization to maximize the opportunity for students with disabilities to participate fully in Kaplan Test Prep’s digital products. This role is primarily a strong front end engineer with deep expertise in Accessibility.
Responsibilities
Be recognized across the organization as a go to accessibility engineer and evangelist
Work with the product and engineering teams to develop accessible-from-inception products and services across multiple platforms and to drive accessibility improvements for legacy content and systems
Coordinate and standardize accessibility across Kaplan Test Prep businesses
Audit Kaplan Test Prep’s products for accessibility
Work with our customer services organization to identify and deliver accessibility solutions to students
Provide and/or coordinate accessibility training for engineers, product team and customer service personnel
Prepare VPAT forms with Legal Councils
Standardize accessibility best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Passion for technology and user experience
Strong front end development skills with experience in JS frameworks, CSS, HTML
Experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.0 and accessibility audits
Experience with standards compliant front end web development, accessible web development, WAI-ARIA, Canvas, SVG, agile, screen readers (JAWS, Voiceover, NVDA, WindowEyes), screen magnifiers (ZoomText, MAGic), AngularJS, ReactJS, HTML5, CSS, XML, MathML, Daisy, and ePub3
Strong cross group collaboration skills and ability to build relationships with and evangelize to multiple stakeholders, including engineers and nontechnical executives
Strong problem solving capabilities
Selfstarter with positive attitude and excellent communication skills
