Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Duties:
Serves as the Academic Support in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA).
Assists, reviews, advises, and provides guidance and IT support to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs on digital media, presentation of data, digital document construction, graphical communication, website maintenance, and ADA document compliance.
Provide support for the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA). Schedules core competency assessments, runs statistical analyses, reviews student data, and assists in developing and proctoring assessments as needed—responsible for data collection, warehousing reports, and key documents.
Serve as webmaster for the institutional accreditation pages and works directly with the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) to ensure pages are updated and compliant.
Coordinates the ADA Accessibility and PDF remediation project for the Academic Units at UH Hilo pursuant to Section 508, WCAG 2.1 standards remediation and compliance that are used to support these websites, including accreditation reports to WSCUC, program self-studies, and assessment reports.
Coordinates campus logistical support for on-site WSCUC accreditation visits, including IT support, scheduling, transportation, accommodations, and other related duties.
Provides IT support for other college accreditation/assessment-related reviewers.
Provides direct support and training to users on Commonlook ADA Section 508 Accessibility and PDF remediation projects pursuant to WCAG 2.1.
Serve as webmaster support for UH Hilo Faculty Congress pages. Works closely with congress committees to provide support as an administrator for recordkeeping and document posting.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education and at least three (3) years of experience with responsibilities for information technology, website design and maintenance, and ADA document compliance; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Possess the following competencies: technical knowledge, critical thinking skills, data analysis, communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
Functional knowledge, understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, methodology and terminology in the area of website design and ADA accessibility.
Functional knowledge, understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, methodology and terminology in the area of document PDF remediation.
Desirable Qualifications:
Functional knowledge and skills with ADA compliance and the software needed to remediate documents for the web.
Familiarity with WSCUC standards of accreditation, program review and assessment data analysis methods.
