Job Description:
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Web Administrator with expertise in Drupal CMS, web accessibility, and large-scale content management to support the migration and ongoing maintenance of TEA's flagship website, which hosts over 3,000 pages. This role reports to the Director of Creative and Production within the Communications Division and serves as a key liaison between Communications and IT Web Services.
The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in web design, site architecture, accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), and SEO best practices, and will possess a demonstrated ability to manage high-impact web projects across organizational lines. The candidate must balance technical web development skills with excellent communication and project management abilities.
This is a remote contract position requiring full-time availability within standard business hours.
Education Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree in Web Development, Computer Science, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and assist with multi-site web migrations ensuring all content is accurate, accessible, and user-friendly
Administer and update site content using Drupal CMS, including creating and managing taxonomy, navigation, and layout structures
Coordinate closely with IT Web Services to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and site reliability
Serve as the main point of contact between Communications and IT Web Services, translating technical needs into practical solutions
Provide hands-on assistance to web contributors across the agency for content updates and CMS best practices
Perform accessibility audits and collaborate to ensure full compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines
Support remediation of PDFs and digital content to improve accessibility and user experience
Monitor web analytics and site performance, identify trends, and recommend enhancements
Execute SEO strategies and implement responsive, mobile-first design principles
Required Qualifications (Minimum 7 Years Experience):
Web administration and design experience, especially managing large-scale websites
Proven expertise in Drupal CMS including advanced content creation, menu structuring, and taxonomy management
Strong UI/UX design portfolio showcasing complex and user-centered web interfaces
Deep knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and experience resolving accessibility issues
Familiarity with responsive and mobile-first design approaches
Demonstrated understanding of SEO best practices and performance optimization
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Excellent collaboration and communication skills across departments and technical teams
Strong organizational and project management capabilities with attention to detail and deadlines

This is a 100% remote role; candidate must be located within the United States
Standard work hours: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM CST
Duration: May 16, 2025 August 31, 2025 (estimated 696 hours total)
Occasional after-hours work may be required with prior approval
