The Global Digital Experience team provides ground breaking digital solutions to deliver market leading digital client experiences and creating innovative ideas that bridges mobile, desktop, back office and other digital media to provide solutions and services that are driven by customer insight and business & local market demands across Personal Investing, Wholesale, Institutional, Advisory and Workplace Investing.The Global Digital experience team is in a leading position to respond and adapt in an evolving ecosystem to achieve Fidelity’s strategic goals, deliver best in class digital experiences to our customers, and provide exciting growth opportunities for our employees.

About the role
You’ll be responsible for advancing the accessibility of our digital components and design patterns, part of a global design system that is used across FIL digital products globally. You’ll act as an advocate for the end users and help ensure our teams will take an inclusive and insight-driven approach in their production process. This role will support the Head of Global Design Standards and China Experience Studio on both internal and external engagements and projects to help drive digital experiences that adhere to the industry’s accessibility standards (WCAG).

Key areas of work:

Own and lead digital accessibility standards

Keep up to date with the latest industry standards and lead the changes that are required internally
Understand the business and legal requirements for different markets to define the right level of standard for FIL devliery team to adopt
Strong understanding of disabled customer’s digital behaviours and needs, to provide practical feedback and guidelines for internal teams
Champion accessibility standards and promote its value

Drive integrations and new process into BAU

Provide research and testing insights to designers before building a new component
Test all GDS design components to be published, write guidelines on implementation and testing for variations
Support expert audits for delivery teams when required (demo how to run manual tests with different assistive technologies, browsers and devices)
High level understanding of testing scriptes and codes that enables accessibility testing and experiences
Update and create useful accessibility content for GDS site’s Accessibility Toolkit and The Source page

Provide training support and onboarding to tools

Document and publish about standards, provide checklists for easy adoption
Provide training on accessible design, content, copy, testing and tool
Onboard staffs to Deque tools and share feature updates to the user community
Vendor management tasks, responsible for maximising benefits for the FIL account
Knowledgeable about the range of assistive technology, ability to use what’s available for demo and testing purposes

Global engagements comms and reporting

Scale and improve accessibility user experience by covering and tracking more customer touchpoints
Create KPI to monitor success, failures and trends. Synthesise findings and reports to senior leadership using Axe Monitor, Axe Reports and other test data
Quarterly updates on the GDS Team Newsletter and in the Inclusive and Accessibility Steer Co forum
Conduct roadshows and drive awareness; recruit accessibility allies to help speed up adoption and identify opportunities to grow presence
Work with internal stakeholders to understand the gaps, size and prioritization of issues to solve to meet accessibility standards
Organise activities on key dates such as GAAD, Inclusion Week or other relevant global celebrations to increase awareness of accessibility
Publish articles on internal communication channels

About you

Experience and Qualifications Required:

Experienced delivering WCAG standards in digital products through research, design and testing
IAAP certifications is preferred
Champion inclusive user-centric principles in your approaches
Understand product design process, agile delivery, different user research methods and tools. Experienced working in multi-disciplinary teams
Solid understanding in a design and research role where you have had experience working with design systems at global level and scale
Undertake mixed-method research to validate the accessibility of our global design system
Translate testing results from user testing and automated testing into actionable insights for designers or engineers to remediate issues timely. Inform team members of priority and next steps.
Strong communication skills, fluent in English, bilingual is an advantage. Able to articulate accessibility issues clearly and make sound design recommendations
Excellent stakeholder and influencing skills, including communication, negotiation of meaningful partnerships, management of expectation and make sensible recommendations
Bachelors or masters degree in a relevant field is desirable
