The Digital Learning Design & Accessibility Conformance Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining support for conformance with digital accessibility standards for
the College. This position will serve as the college liaison with the Tennessee Board Regents (TBR) Accessibility Initiative.

The Digital Learning Design & Accessibility Conformance Coordinator will complete accessibility compliance testing, provide training and support to designers, developers and faculty on creating accessible materials, and providing accommodations with alternative media. The position will be responsible for reporting on compliance regarding the application of ADA/504/508 standards.

The Digital Learning Design & Accessibility Conformance Coordinator will also provide support with general instructional design, development, and training as needed.






This role will be responsible for the following:

The Digital Learning Design & Accessibility Conformance Coordinator will develop and manage projects to support ADA/504/508 conformance efforts and Alternative Media design resources and developments for alternative access when Information Material and Technology accessibility is not technologically feasible for Digital Learning format courses (online, hybrid, web assisted).

Serve as the College Accessibility chair to the TBR Accessibility Initiative.

Develop and maintain support for conformance with the TBR adopted accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.0 A & AA, EPub 3 accessibility guidelines and section 508 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act.

Develop and implement processes and resources to promote and support accessibility.

Troubleshoot accessibility issues and provide resources and workarounds for alternative access when Information Material and Technology accessibility is not technologically feasible.

Support and train designers, developers and faculty on using accessibility standards in design and how to provide alternative access workarounds and alternative media.

Complete accessibility compliance assessment by conducting reviews of digital materials, using various methodologies including automated testing tools, manual assessments, and usability testing.


Provide feedback and reporting on compliance with the Vocational Rehabilitation Act, Section 504n and Section 508 and the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended 2008 requirements concerning disability issues.

Educate designers, developers, and faculty on the application of ADA, 504, and 508 obligations/guidance.

Develop and recommend accessibility conformance review standards, guidelines and best practices.

Assist with general instructional design, development, and training.

Research and keep abreast of emerging technology, industry accessibility standards, guidelines, best practices and tools for developing accessible information materials.

Assist with general student and faculty technical support in the College approved Learning Management System (LMS), and LMS training.

Perform other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements:

Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Instructional Design or related field with one910 year experience in Instructional Design support, - OR - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Instructional Design or related field.

One(1) year experience in assessing accessibility compliance and creating strategies to meet legal requirements and providing accessible workarounds for Information Materials and Technologies.

Experience using tools to aid in accessibility evaluation

Experience developing accessible Information Materials and Technologies

Experience developing Alternative Media

Experience with ADA/504 compliance issues relating to Information Materials and Technologies


Preferred Qualifications :

Knowledge of mobile device accessibility

Knowledge of manual testing with assistive technology
