Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented student worker to join our Information Technology - Accessibility team as a Digital Accessibility Tester. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating the accessibility of digital resources and technologies used across the university, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and regulations. As a key member of our team, you will help us create an inclusive and accessible digital environment for all members of the university community.
This is a long-term, part-time position with flexible hours, allowing you to balance your work with academic commitments.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive accessibility testing on various digital resources, including websites, software applications, multimedia content, and documents
Collaborate with developers, content creators, and designers to address identified accessibility issues and provide recommendations for improvements
Write detailed accessibility test reports, documenting findings, test methodologies, and recommended remediation strategies
Stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility standards, guidelines, and best practices, and apply them to the testing process
Support the accessibility team in conducting accessibility audits and providing consultation on accessibility-related matters
Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development activities related to digital accessibility
Use a combination of automated testing tools and manual techniques to identify accessibility barriers and issues
Assist in the development and implementation of accessibility training programs and workshops for faculty, staff, and students
Assist with other IT-related tasks and projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
Candidate must have good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
Candidate must have the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
Candidate must have a strong interest in digital accessibility and a passion for promoting inclusive design
Familiarity with assistive technologies used by individuals with disabilities, such as screen readers, magnifiers, and keyboard navigation
Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify and articulate accessibility issues
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, ANDI) is a plus
