Job Summary
Promotes and aides the development and implementation of civil rights compliance programs and policies in compliance with legislation and university directives. Conducts and assists with conducting internal and external investigations of complaints of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. Monitors case progress and resolves complaints within established guidelines. Assists with office operations, database monitoring and analysis, training, and program implementation.
Facilitates and implements the University's civil rights compliance programs and activities.
Conducts and assists with internal and external investigations including reviewing reported concerns, meeting and providing information to parties, developing investigative plans, identifying analytical models, legal theory, and the nature of the complaint.
Facilitates the University's response to external complaints filed with state and federal agencies. Assists with preparation of investigative interviews, position statements, report findings, and recommendations.
Participates and assists with internal hearings, civil rights proceedings, and alternative/informal resolutions
Provides support to university administrators, managers, and supervisors in the areas of civil rights compliance and accessibility.
Advises and interprets federal, state, local laws, regulations, and other civil rights and accessibility policies and procedures in response to inquiries from departments, employees, applicants, and the public.
Aids and delivers trainings for departments in civil rights compliance, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Title VI, Title IX, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), related laws and other areas as necessary. Monitors civil rights policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws including, but not limited to: Title VI, Title IX, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Conducts research on university wide issues related to equal opportunity issues.
Coordinates and/or administers the development, implementation, and management of new and ongoing programs or services relating to civil rights compliance and accessibility.
Prepares periodic reports by collecting, compiling, and analyzing data pertinent to the University's civil rights compliance and accessibility activities.
Assists with Americans with Disabilities (ADA) related accommodation requests in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and best practices and other ADA related activities.
May assist with the review of work of others as needed.
Collaborates with leadership and University partners to identify and address systemic issues and concerns.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of relevant experience or Master's degree and two (2) years relevant experience.
Desired Qualifications
Professional experience conducting civil rights investigations or related investigation experience, such as labor and employment, law enforcement,sexual misconduct or legal investigations.
Demonstrated success developing and implementing educational and training programs.
