MSDE is looking for candidates for a paid, full time internship. The Accessibility Intern will assist MSDE's Accessibility branch with duties related to the State of Maryland Digital Accessibility Policy.
Duties Include:
Accessibility & Remediation Support – Perform basic remediation MSDE documents including PowerPoints for accessibility.
Online Course – Track status of online courses scheduled for remediation.
Equivalent access requirements for students with disabilities – create agendas, schedule meetings, takes meeting minutes.
Procurement - Review procurements to ensure approved accessibility language is incorporated.
Tracking – Enter accessibility tickets for digital tools and requested remediation.
Compliance – Review of new legislation and policies and completion of review in comparison with current standards and requirements, identifying new or expanded requirements with potential impacts to MSDE.
Project Implementation – Work on specialized accessibility initiatives and projects, as assigned, under the direction of the Web and Content Accessibility Manager
Research/learning - Independently research solutions to technical problems and learn new skills through job shadowing and self-study. Expected to expand knowledge through hands-on experience.
General administrative duties - Provide general admin support to the IT department as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: 60 credit hours in Education, Communication, Computer Programming or other related field

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must consent to State and FBI (CJIS) background check as a routine procedure for all MSDE employees.
