Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Division of Information Technology seeks a graduate assistant in the area of Digital Accessibility. We are looking for a candidate with experience in web development, Digital Accessibility, and User Experience.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Support Digital Accessibility projects, tasks, and services. Examples of services include the Siteimprove Web Governance tool, professional captioning, PDF remediation software, and accessibility testing and evaluation of eTools.
Review and respond to incident tickets promptly, completely, and accurately.
Support document accessibility remediation services.
Work with the Accessible Learning specialist to respond to tickets related to accessible teaching and learning.
Work with DIT communication staff regarding the development, and maintenance of ATI’s websites, including testing and remediation.
Support in-person and online training.
Support the development of Digital Accessibility documentation and best practices.
Contribute to research and implementation of new Digital Accessibility services.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

Must be enrolled in a University of Maryland, College Park graduate program.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University.


Experience:

Coursework or experience in areas related to Digital Accessibility, user experience (UX), principles of inclusive design, usability testing with a focus on accessibility, web development, software development, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Sciences or related areas, Education, Special Education, Graphic Design, Legal and policy knowledge, or another related field.
Experience working with front-end and back end Web Development


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with web development and different CMS (e.g., Drupal, WordPress, others).
Knowledge and experience with web technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript, XML, and Web content management systems).
Basic Knowledge and experience with WCAG accessibility standards and guidelines.
Strong organizational and project management skills to lead multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to effectively and independently lead projects to completion. Able to work within deadlines, ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery and customer satisfaction.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work experience.
Experience with digital accessibility testing and evaluation (automated and manual testing)
Experience testing web-based information with assistive technologies (JAWS, VoiceOver, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, others).
Experience with reporting web accessibility and producing metrics and dashboards.
Experience with Canvas learning management system.
Experience with accessibility testing, quality assurance tools, and processes.
Experience delivering training in person and online.
Document Accessibility remediation.
Knowledge and experience with mobile testing
Knowledge of disability law including but not limited to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (Section 504).

Additional Certifications:
Preferred: Certifications in web accessibility (e.g., IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies; Trusted Tester, or other).

Physical Demands
