DO YOU ALIGN WITH THESE KEY QUALIFICATIONS?

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, assistive technology, education, or related field

3 years of experience using accessible/assistive devices, software, apps, on-line services, and web/mobile applications, assistive listening devices, and creating electronic text and alternative formats including optical character recognition to convert to various formats

Knowledge of American with Disabilities Act as amended 2008, Section 504 & 508 of the Rehabilitation Act

Proficiency in using accessibility evaluation tools and assistive technologies to assess digital assets for compliance

Experience with MS Office Programs & Information Management Systems


WHAT WILL YOUR SUCCESS LOOK LIKE?

As the Specialist of Digital Accessibility, you will be tasked with executing the review of hardware and software purchase requests and contracts to ensure compliance with Voluntary Product Accessibility language (VPATs), overseeing site tests and audits, helping to resolve content issues, and enforcing compliance standards.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Conduct regular audits and assessments of digital content to ensure compliance with institutional policies and laws, identifying and overseeing necessary improvements.
Record, communicate, and monitor identified gaps and barriers to content owners, ensuring remediation actions are taken for compliance.
Provide guidance to faculty and staff on digital accessibility requirements, remediation strategies, and best practices during procurement and implementation.
Support internal teams in designing, developing, and testing accessible digital products and features.
Stay updated on digital accessibility standards and emerging technologies to improve practices continually.
Assist in training sessions and workshops to raise awareness of digital accessibility principles among faculty and staff and provide expertise in accessible instructional materials and media.
