Accessibility Specialist

Disability Services directs and coordinates the provision of supportive services for students with disabilities within the division of Student Success. This office ensures equal access to programs and facilities at MSU-Bozeman for students with disabilities and increases campus awareness of and advocacy for students with disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Accessibility Specialist provides accommodation services to students with disabilities in order to guarantee equal educational access. This position, coordinates with Testing Services on issues with test proctoring. Assistive technology training for students and alternatively formatted materials will be coordinated under this position.

Coordinate test schedules with Testing Services.
Coordinates accessible texts.
Meet with students as dictated by the suspension appeal process.
Meet confidentially with walk-in students in distress.
Present at MSU Friday and orientation info sessions.
Help coordinate front desk and manage the front office in shared services with the Dean of Students office.
Under the direction of the Director oversees mandated accommodations and makes sure ADA accommodations are being delivered in a timely and efficient manner.


Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Bachelor’s degree or equivalency of 5 years of progressive experience in a higher education setting.

Demonstrated competence in interpreting, applying, and communicating detailed information, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of individuals internal and external to the organization in an effective, diplomatic, and confidential manner.

Demonstrated competence organizing and prioritizing large workloads and meeting tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and production.

Successful experience applying strong analytical skills and good judgment.

Demonstrated skill using personal computers and a variety of software including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database applications. Experience using Microsoft Office preferred.

Employment experience within a university setting.

Experience working with SCT Banner software.

Working with students with disabilities.
