Opportunity Overview

SD Solutions is seeking a capable and experienced Quality Assurance Lead/Manager to provide support at IRS (Internal Revenue Service). This individual will be providing support for the design, development and build of test data sets, test plans, executing UAT and defect tracking and reporting as well as leading a multidisciplinary team integrating with other contractors and Government employees to strengthen key roles, that the IRS undertakes to fulfill its mission.

Qualifications

5-8 years previous experience in software quality assurance or testing roles, preferably in a government or highly regulated environment.
Experience working with software development teams in an Agile or Waterfall environment.
Familiarity with federal government regulations, standards, and processes related to software development and testing (e.g., FISMA, Section 508).
Understanding of security testing techniques, tools, and standards (e.g., OWASP Top 10, NIST guidelines) to identify and address security vulnerabilities.
Familiarity with accessibility testing principles and guidelines (e.g., Section 508, WCAG) to ensure software applications are accessible to users with disabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, document test plans and results, and communicate issues effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure thorough testing coverage and accurate reporting of defects.


Preferred Certifications:

ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) certifications (e.g., Foundation Level, Advanced Level). Certified Agile Tester (CAT) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) for Agile testing roles. Security-related certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

Responsibilities

Testing web-based and mobile applications to ensure they meet functional requirements, security standards, and usability guidelines. This includes testing across different browsers, operating systems, and devices to ensure compatibility and accessibility.
Conduct security testing to identify vulnerabilities, such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and authentication flaws. This involves using tools like vulnerability scanners, penetration testing frameworks, and manual testing techniques to assess the security posture of applications.
Ensure that government software applications are usable and accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This involves conducting usability testing to assess the user experience and accessibility testing to ensure compliance with Section 508 requirements for accessibility.
Perform performance, regression and UAT testing to evaluate the responsiveness, scalability, and reliability of government applications under different load conditions. This includes stress testing, load testing, and endurance testing to identify performance bottlenecks and ensure applications can handle expected levels of usage.
Utilize test automation tools and frameworks to automate repetitive test cases, regression testing, and continuous integration pipelines. To ensure consistent quality across software releases and reduce the time and effort required for testing.

Document test plans, test cases, test results, and defects in accordance with government standards and procedures. Prepare test reports and provide regular status updates to project stakeholders, including developers, project managers, and government officials.
Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
