Position: Software Engineer II, Accessibility

Job Location: 221 River Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030

Duties: Guide Walmart CE’s Internal Accessibility Testing team by executing and driving manual accessibility testing for web and app experiences. Provide mentorship and guidance for team members on reporting and troubleshooting of bugs to identify the root cause of the issue. Hold engineering office hours, implement training for application teams, and support internal testing team to lead technical discussions on features they test. Report and escalate any issues that may affect the schedule, budget, or quality of the product or the testing process. Conduct and prioritize accessibility testing projects, classify bugs based on WCAG Success Criteria, create tickets, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve and escalate issues. Partner alongside developers and business partners to resolve issues and evolve the quality of Walmart’s digital experiences to ensure they are accessible to all users. Create documents for accessibility testing requests, Level of Effort (LOE), and testing timeline. Standardize and implement the accessibility testing process and workflow for accessibility testing team. Attend kickoff/walkthrough meetings and work with Technical Project Managers and feature teams to identify LOE for testing requests.

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering (any), Information Technology or related field and 1 year of experience in Accessibility testing.

Skills required: Experience using web screen readers including JAWS and NVDA to conduct accessibility testing on Windows devices. Experience using native app screen readers including VoiceOver and TalkBack to conduct accessibility testing on iOS and Android mobile devices. Experience using accessibility extensions, plugins, and technical tools including aXe, WAVE, Access Assistant, Colour Contrast Analyzer (CCA), and Accessible Name & Description (ANDI). Experience conducting accessibility testing on website and mobile responsive websites via MacOS and Windows OS. Experience performing accessibility testing via browsers (Chrome/Safari/Firefox/IE) and screen reader (JAWS/NVDA/VoiceOver) combinations. Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript coding languages to debug. Experience utilizing DevTools to inspect developers' code. Experience analyzing and scoping Level Of Effort (LOE) for software accessibility testing engagements, projects, and programs. Experience in defect bug tracking and task tracking tools (JIRA, Trello, Bugzilla, AMP, and ARC). Experience authoring and creating conformance documents VPAT or WCAG statements for applications (websites or native apps). Experience reporting and providing accessibility deliverables and conducting accessibility trainings. Experience researching, identifying, and implementing workflow changes for process improvements within internal teams. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
