Job Description
We are looking for a UX / UI Designer who will be responsible for the project from beginning to end. Supports the web and eCommerce user experience program, as well as other sites and online experiences in the global web ecosystem. This person will be working with the designing team and the higher education team to build the websites. The designer should demonstrate proficiency in design systems thinking, working closely with:
Web content authors to design and optimize new and existing components for building web experiences
Technical product managers and engineers to ensure efficient design, leveraging Bootstrap 5 and existing web components to bring to life new site functionality
Corporate branding stakeholders, web content creators and creative designers to collaboratively solution content presentations within the web design system and overarching brand guidelines
Business stakeholders, communicating design solutions within the context of research, analytics and business goals
Qualifications:
Looking for a strong autonomous and professional candidate.
Person with strong experience in Design system and Figma.
Need someone with very strong experience in responsive design for mobile, desktop and tablets.
Candidates with knowledge of Screen Reader, Accessibility, WCAG .
Candidate will be collaborating and operating with the UX department and the Web COE Department.
BA/BFA degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, CS, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
Candidates with Master’s degree in HCI is a very big plus and the first priority will be given to them.
A strong portfolio of projects demonstrating varied experience across digital, including web and mobile.
Experience within eCommerce and/or ed tech a plus.
Expertise in standard UX software such as Figma, Storybook, Lighthouse & AEM.
Knowledge of web accessibility and experience with optimizing experiences for usability and accessibility.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and milestones efficiently. Experience within an Agile environment is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate across functional areas, including technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience leading research priorities and leveraging findings and metrics to inform projects and priorities.
7+ years of applicable experience or 5+ years of applicable experience and managerial experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
Leadership:
Review and align research lead initiatives to provide valuable insights that inform and enrich design processes
UX/UI Ownership:
Take charge of UX/UI as aligned with overall strategy for the website, shaping navigation, page layouts, and more to enhance user experiences
Determine UX/UI priorities and guide the team in delivering projects on time and on budget
Utilize wireframing, design, and prototyping techniques to craft user flows, conducting design tests to refine iterations iteratively.
Autonomously own, calculate and implement strategies to facilitate the needs of multiple UX/UI projects from conception through to completion
Accessibility:
Proven track record of creating and maintaining UI components that meet strict accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1, ADA, and Section 508.
Expert knowledge of accessibility guidelines and principles, and how they apply to UI design (color contrast, keyboard navigation, screen readers, etc.).
Agile UX Strategy:
Help define UX strategy and processes or vetted web initiatives within an agile framework, ensuring adaptability and responsiveness
System Establishment and Standardization:
Implement systems for scalable and accessible web design organization-wide, fostering consistency and accessibility.
Cross Team Collaboration:
Foster collaboration across creative teams within the organization, advocating for the adoption of the design system in all web and eCommerce initiatives.
